ChatGPT got us started. Something else kept us coming back.
When ai.moms started, we were all in on ChatGPT. It was the name everyone knew, the tool everyone recommended. Six months later, the picture looks different. Here's what we actually found when we used all of them — not for demos, but for real family management.
ChatGPT is where most people start, and for good reason. It's fast, widely supported, and the free version is genuinely useful. It's great for quick tasks — drafting an email, brainstorming gift ideas, summarizing an article. But for sustained, nuanced conversations — the kind where you're actually thinking through something complicated — it can feel shallow. It also forgets context quickly within a conversation.
Verdict: A great entry point. Not where you want to live.

Gemini integrates with Google Workspace, which is genuinely useful if you live in Google Docs, Gmail, and Calendar. Its web access is helpful for current information. But in our testing, the responses often felt more generic — like it was optimizing for safety over usefulness. The Google integration is its best argument.
Verdict: Worth it if you're deep in the Google ecosystem. Otherwise, not the move.
Claude reads longer documents without complaining. It remembers the full context of a conversation. It writes in a way that sounds like a human — not a press release. And critically for mothers: it handles nuance well. When you explain that your kid has anxiety about transitions and you need help scripting a conversation, Claude engages with the full complexity of that rather than giving you a generic checklist.
It's also — and this matters — less likely to lecture you. It trusts you to be an adult.
"The best AI tool is the one that actually fits how you think. For most moms we've tested with, that's Claude."
Start with ChatGPT if you haven't started at all — it's the most familiar. But if you're ready to actually integrate AI into how you run your family and your work, Claude is where we recommend you build. It's what we teach with, and it's what Aime is built on.
All three have free tiers. Try them. See which one feels like talking to someone who actually listens.
